Graphic design is making graphics in general and is not restricted to computers….graphic design entails marketing in the real world, advertisements, etc.

Web development is, of course, programming websites for different clients.
A large company may hire you to be a full time webmaster….meaning you work at updating their own webpage constantly….some webmasters are freelance and can either be hired to do a one time web design for a person or company, or may be hired to make periodic updates.

Freelance web designers generally have several clients at once and work at home or their own office.
If you are a full time webmaster for a company you will generally work at the office of the company, such as the headquarters, and your main focus is only to bring up to date and maintain their company website. (of course on the side in your free time you can have part time clients!)

    Hope this helps :)

Graphic design and web development holds hands.

Graphic design spans a wide range of media and can be sub-dived into several disciplines, web designer, art directors, press designers, above the line below, the line… you name it.

A web developer is the technological computer monkey stitching codes collectively and solving problems with infinite probability’s.

(A Graphic Designer is the creative fairy capable of anything with the right experience)

I would suggest getting the basics of Graphic Designing below your knee and then trying to climb the development Everest.

The secret to fantastic websites is not only straightforwardly navigated user interfaces but also a strong thought, and appropriate graphics.
(A touch lots of web developers neglect to include.)
